When my mom cooks (which she always is), she always has a paper towel under each foot. She slides through her tiny kitchen from the counter to the stove to the refrigerator, catching the drips that fall to the floor. “Clean as you go” is her positive mantra, and she does it.
My house is not nearly as clean as hers; I can’t imagine evoking her enthusiasm for forever vacuuming and dusting daily. And these days my house is extra messy. So when a friend sent me the link for these chenille dust mop slippers, I clicked it.
Not only are these smart cleaners an eco-upgrade from my mom’s floor care method, but they’re also an absolute bargain. With eight pairs for just $10, this is a no-brainer. Would these clean slippers improve the condition of my tired home? There’s only one way to find out.
Of course, if you have Amazon Prime, you can have these slippers shipped for free. Not a member yet? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And even those without Prime get free shipping on orders of $25 or more).

Yay, my mop slippers are here!
I thanked the Amazon Prime man and broke open the package. As promised, it includes four pairs of chenille mop slippers—purple, blue, neon green, and bright orange. They are stretchy and soft, like very firm peds (remember your peds?), with nice quality elastic around the top for a good fit. I open the purple one for closer inspection.
I slip them on my bare feet and discover that these little beauties are designed more intelligently than I realized. The outside has the long “stack” you see in the photo. The inside has rows of finer chenille, which are soft and soothing to my feet (my bunions say “ah”). It seems to me that they are reversible.
Putting these babies to the test
These comfy furry mop slippers (“com furry”) slide over shoes, but I choose to ride bareback (I don’t wear shoes in the house anyway).
My kitchen floor is made of woody plastic. My first concern is that the chenille will be slippery. But that’s not it at all. It has just enough grip and glide, and I can “clean as I go” like my mom, except I’m cleaning up last night’s dinner while making this morning’s coffee. This is fun. I turn on some music and find myself skating around the kitchen, jumping out here and there. I pick up speckles while getting some much-needed functional exercise.

Next surface – real hardwood. Doing yoga in my living room means an intimate downward look at the film of dust that gathers under the coffee table and elsewhere. I slide over there and wipe problem spots with my super-powered chenille feet, then hit a downward dog to check on my work. Clean as a whistle.
White-and-black tiles in the bathroom show more dirt than anything else. I turn a chenille slipper inside out to do “detail work”. It turns out I’m a genius. The finer side of the slipper not only picks up dirt particles from the joints between tiles but also inspires me to walk with a pointed foot along the metal baseboard – where dust likes to live. Wave, clean in the blink of an eye, no bending over, no paper towels to throw in the landfill. A win-win.
The wooden stairs are my nemesis when it comes to dust. Back to my Old West metaphor, it seems like a place where tumbleweeds park to rest. I move from top to bottom, making each step a quick corner-to-corner. Voila.
Versatile and easy to wash
Now I am inspired. I decide to take things to the next level. I go after some webs in the corner of my bedroom ceiling – a small cluster visible only at night with the bedside lamps, which I never remember having during the day when I’m cleaning. I open the blue pair and put one of the slippers on the end of a mop. I nail it, then go room to room, slippers on my feet and one in the air, spotting all the top corners clean.
I returned with a very well-used mop slipper that needs a wash. I shake off the loose dirt outside, then drop it into the sink along with the purple pair. Warm water, a dish soap drop, swish, and rinse quickly. I sound my mop slippers and drape them over the shower rod. Because the soft poly dries quickly, my mop slippers are ready to use a few hours later, as good as new.
How do I like this one? Let me count the ways. (Photo: Amazon)
The verdict
Floor cleaning, fitness, and fun with a $10 purchase? These mop slippers are my new favorite find. I put them on every morning when I get out of bed, and my feet feel warm and cared for. They call me off my ass and onto my feet all day. Instead of noticing (with fear) a few crumbs or a layer of dust, I attack it on my way to check the mail or while making lunch.
I decide to put two pairs upstairs and two teams downstairs. I collect the orange pair when I am motivated to tackle the basement. Cold concrete floor, I’m coming for you. But not now.
I’m sitting here drinking tea with my feet wrapped in cozy chenille. Clean when you go. That’s my motto. But first? Relax and enjoy.
